Ashborn
Use rules for Duskwalkers
Every now and then seemingly at random across different communities and ancestries across all of Terra, an Ashborn is ushered into the world. A newborn babe found at a graveyard, disaster site, or battlefield cozily nestled in a pile of ash and a scythe shaped birthmark somewhere on their body. This children are believed to be the product of an ancient pact with Sylas, the details of which have been lost to time. However these Ashborn children seem to have a special connection to death and many of which seem to be able to remember things from past lives at an astonishingly young age. Clerics of Sylas when they do their rites and memorial for the dead are always mindful to keep an eye out for such children as they can grow to accomplish great things and become great heroes standing against the perversion of undeath. Disciples of Mortarius are vigilant for such children as well but for much more sinister reasons. Due to the reverence with which the clergy of Sylas view these children, many of the Ashborn end up being raised by the Church of Sylas.... however the faith itself forbids its members from pressuring or forcing an Ashborn into the clergy, a paladin order, or monastic training. Generally a new Ashborn is found (and recorded) once every 10 years or so, but more frequent findings can occur. Extended periods without a recorded Ashborn being found have occurred but such "droughts" have never lasted longer than a century.
