Diplomatic action

After 10 years of war and millions of dead on both sides the ruling governments of both Earth and Mars are both replaced within weeks of each other by war-tired politicians and military leaders seeking peace from their own ranks. The new governments quickly negotiate an armistice and set to work creating a lasting peace between all parties. With no clear victor on any side, the negotiations are slow but few among the representatives want or can continue fighting.
  The negotiations took 6 months and mainly took place in Armstrong City in the historic Sea of Tranquillity on Luna. In the end the gathered nations emerge under one new super-state, the Earth-Mars Federation and a new era of humanity is announced to mark the event.
