Arknos (rrk-nos)
A forest of silver promises riches for every wide-eyed adventurer, yet those sparkling branches hide a devilish creature. A fiend with burning eyes and a thorny grasp to choke out your life should you dare bring harm to his home.
Arknos is the guardian of Ashoroth Forest, seen by the very few unfortunates to escape his grasping branches. They say he appears as an incredibly tall figure wearing a tent of brambles, thorns, leaves and flowers. For his head is a great deer skull, barren of flesh or fur with antlers of twenty points. The only reason you can tell him apart from the rest of the forest are the chilling, glowing white eyes. While hulking and bearing an ominous aura, it is said you'll only hear the creaking of tree limbs in the wind as he approaches.
This demi-god of the trees holds great distain for most humanoids. Screams of agony shudder the forest as you cut down trees or burn away the brush. Some adventurers say you can scare away the leshin with fire, others say it will enrage him more and he will annihilate your village should you take another plant. It is said any village or city to be erected in the Ashoroth forest must have a Druid to barter with the guardian, though many don't know his price. Some whisper its the lives of 30 babies, others say you must offer up a virgin's blood every Hunter's Moon, whatever the cost the Druids will never tell.
Should you find yourself at the mercy of the thorny pseudo-deity, you may be able to quell the rage by offering up new lifeforms for him to care for. But once you drop the seeds, be sure to put out your fire and run. Arknos has the mind of a beast and will not hesitate to turn and take your life even after a desperate plea.
