Te War for Nature

Many wars are fought where the combatants do not know the purpose of the war. Few last so long that even the leaders of the opposing forces do not know why they continue to fight. The War for Nature is one of the longest wars in Grystian history, and it's not only international but inter-racial. Several civil wars sprung up due to this conflict and some countries were completely destroyed.

The Conflict

Prelude

The short-lived races such as humans Drosh and Kavunthites began to industrialize their citieswith highly toxic factories and power plants. The Shindar attempted to stop them. When they refused, the war began.

Deployment

Over eighteen countries and nine races became involved in this war. Corthalia was chief among those opposing industrialization though their territory, Serodechia became one of the chief offenders. Hagaria, Kunth, Dauthel, Averon, and The United Republic of Naeghat joined in on the side of the Shindar. Vrahil, Yovunsk, Mrubegti and Polgeshai fought on the side of industry. Two of these countries separated into more during this conflict, and several neutral countries had to join in to protect their own.

Battlefield

The chief battlefields were just outside of Arton proper, Grellen in Dauthel and the mountain peaks of Naeghat.

Conditions

Most of the war was fought around inhospitable areas. The Shindar took advantage of their ability to fly and taunted the opposing troops with their flight and magic.

The Engagement

The war involved nineteen countries in the major conflict but affected up to forty countries and three unclaimed territories. Up to twelve races were involved in espionage and trade with the nine major races. Several countries were involved for over three hundred years, but only Corthalia was involved for the entire conflict.

Outcome

Most destructive magic of the world became concentrated in battlefields and military bases. Most battlefields lay barre for decades.

Aftermath

Few people trust those who naturally wield raw magic. Most avoid the Shindar and their kin altogether. The Shindar retreated from the world, creating their own pollution-free demiplane. They overthrew the Shindarin oligarchy and instead set up consuls of Shindar representing various regions, known as the Chorus of Mothers.

Historical Significance

Legacy

This war destroyed many countries and regions. It is known as one of the worst conflicts in Grystian history. Very few people wsh to see it repeated. Many races involved with that war would work to establish a peaceful way to resolve conflictsi the future.

Technological Advancement

The Shindar invented many magical weapons, some with devastating affects. A few Shindar manufactured weapons of mas destruction. Bio and magical warfare racked the first two hundred years of conflict. Large military vehicles and many explosive weapons were manufactured and distributed. Several countries regressed severely due to outstanding destruction.
