Penance Square
Penance Square is the cacophonous throat of the Temple District. In a city defined by grim silence and oppressive shadows, this open-air plaza—anchored by the Forum of Faded Echoes—is the only place where the air is thick with the noise of competing ideologies. It is a site of frantic spiritual desperation, where the lost come to find a god and the gods come to find a mouthpiece.

Scattered across the square are seven elevated platforms of jagged obsidian. Each varies in height, symbolizing the "hierarchies of truth." The tallest is reserved for the most influential faith of the week, a status that often shifts as the city’s sentient architecture rises or sinks the platforms overnight.
