Beggar's Wharf
In the City of Mirrors, where the stone is as temperamental as the shadows, Beggar’s Wharf stands as a desperate, frantic gateway between the black waters of the Shadowfell and the lucrative chaos of the Midnight Market. Located in the most dilapidated stretch of the Shattered Isles, this area is a maze of rotting timber, obsidian pylons, and iron chains that groan as the city’s foundations shift.
The Wharf is never truly silent. It is a place of muffled urgency. Pirates and smugglers dock their shallow-bottomed skiffs here because the "Deathless" (the city’s silent, skeletal guardians) rarely patrol this deep into the rot.
The air is thick with the "Gloom-Murk"—a salty, oily fog that tastes like wet iron. To the uninitiated, the Wharf looks like a haphazard collection of sinking platforms, but to a smuggler, it is a finely tuned machine. Cargo is offloaded onto "Sliding Sleds"—flat wooden pallets greased with whale fat—to be sprinted through the narrow alleys of the Shattered Isles before the city’s architecture can shift and cut off the path to the Market.
