Session 6: The Tomb of Zosciel
General Summary
The party entered the True Tomb and, after carefully inspecting the entrance for traps, went inside. They found themselves in a huge, circular chamber composed of a stone walkway surrounding a huge, seemingly bottomless pit. In the centre of the pit was a platform with a column of air reaching down from a hole in the ceiling, and the circumference of the room was decorated with strange, distorted bas-reliefs.
Lins approached one of the reliefs to inspect it, and at her approach, several vents around the image released steam that eddied through the gaps in the image, animating it. The party viewed all four images, and pieced together some ancient history regarding a species called Vaati (in common, Wind Dukes) and their war against the Queen of Chaos.
The images showed the encroachment of chaotic forces, the assembly of the Vaati into an army, the forging of the Rod of Law, and its splitting into seven parts when used against Miska the Wolf Spider. They saw the fall of Zosciel in this battle, and having viewed it, approached the column of air which surely led to his true burial place.
The party faced off against the tombs last defence: two Wind Warriors who could issue sonic blasts from their longswords, but they defeated them and ascended to the true tomb, where they looted a circlet of wisdom, two impressive demon horns, a suit of silver armour, and a pewter box inscribed with abyssal symbols.
The party took their items to Allustan next-day, and Allustan helped Nemara open the box, revealing a Talisman of the Sphere inside. He advised Nemara to hang onto the item, saying that the need for it was rare, but if it happened she’d be glad to have it.
With that, the party sat down to discuss what to do about the cult of the Ebon Triad that had taken root in Diamond Lake.
