Death Domain

This is for characters who serve a more neutral , non-corruptive variety of death god than those who would align themselves with the more malicious death domain presented in the DMG. This alternative is also recommended for death gods who actively stand against the undead, such as Kelemvor. This version of the cleric Death domain avoids abilities which use the undead as tools, and actually has several features that would potentially aid in the destruction of such creatures.

Alternate Death Domain Spells

Cleric LevelĀ Spells
1st Inflict Wounds, Detect Poison and Disease
3rd Gentle repose, Ray of Enfeeblement
5th Speak with the Dead, Feign Death
7th Blight, Death Ward
9th Antilife Shell, Destructive Wave

Death God's Blessing

When you choose this domain at 1st level, you learn the Spare the Dying and Chill Touch cantrips. These both count as cleric cantrips for you.

Additionally, your dread deity grants you protection from the raw touch of death's embrace. You gain resistance to necrotic damage.

One Foot in the Grave

Also at 1st level, when you are reduced to 0 hit pointsand are considered dying, if you fail a death saving throw you may count it as a success instead.

Alternatively, if you take damage while dying and accumulate one or more failed death saves as a result, you may immediately ignore one of the failed death saves.

You may use this feature once. At 14th level, you may use this feature twice. You regain all uses once you complete a long rest.

Channel Divinity: Endbringer

Starting at 2nd level, you can use your Channel Divinity to call upon Your deity's mastery of death in order to visit ruin upon your foes. When you roll necrotic damage, you may use your Channel Divinity to deal maximum damage on the dice instead of rolling.

Implacable Doom

At 6th level, your mastery over negative energy becomes more prolific, and even creatures who are attuned to or protected from its touch would do well to fear your power. Wheneveryou deal necrotic damage, that damage may ignore resistance (but not immunity) to necrotic damage.

Additionally, whenever you roll a 1 on any damage die to determine the amount of necrotic damage dealt, you may reroll that die and must take the new roll, even if the result is another 1.

Potent Spellcasting

Starting at 8th level, you add your Wisdom modifier to the damage you deal with any cleric cantrip.

Death's Chosen

Beginning at 17th level, at the end of any short or long rest, upon completing a prayer to your deity, you may immediately cast Death Ward upon yourself without expending a spell slot. You may not use this feature again until you finish a short or long rest.
