Fortubo (for-TOO-boh)

The Stern, the Unyielding Rock, the Bountiful Seam, the Pure Ore, the Master Smith, the Stone Dweller

Stone, metals, mountains, and guardianship

Lesser God, Lawful Good (Lawful Neutral)
Origin: Suloise
Domain: The Empyrean Delve/ Seven Heavens (4th Plane)
Symbol: glowing-headed hammer
Aliases: None
Superior: None
Allies: Moradin, Berronar
Fortubo was once very fond of the Suel people but abandoned them in disgust when he learned of their creation of derro from enslaved dwarves. Most of his current clergy are dwarves, though a few gnomes worship him; he is allied with Moradin - The All-Father and Berronar of the dwarven pantheon in their struggle against humanoids who harm the earth with mindless tunneling. He is friendly with all the gods of the dwarven pantheon but avoids all other gods except his brother Jascar. He is shown as a small Suel man who strongly resembles a dwarf; this resemblance is more pronounced in dwarven temples.   Fortubo is never kind to those who have fallen from good, though he tolerates those of the various neutral alignments. He is vehemently opposed to theft, murder, evil, and the subjugation of dwarvenkind, and thus no dwarven, gnome, or human thief or assassin would worship him. He is opposed to evil and to the subjugation of his followers. To this end, Fortubo offers indirect aid to those who would free his people or who would reestablish a temple to himself, Moradin, or Berronar.   Fortubo can raise the constitution of one of his chosen "children" to as high as 19. Such a great boon is given only for deeds done in his name. He can also lower the constitution of any humanoid to as low as 3, but only does this to the worst of his enemies or desecrators of his name.   His personal weapon is a great hammer named Golbi that returns to his hand when thrown and is said to be a gift from the dwarf god Moradin.

The Church

Clergy: Clerics, Specialty Priests, Paladins
While Fortubo has human clerics (20% of his clergy), the majority are dwarves (75%) with very few (5%) being lawful good gnomes.   The priests of Fortubo are protectors of their community. He has no preference toward male or female worshippers or clergy , and married couples are encouraged to enter the priesthood together. He forbids his priests from multi- or dual-classing, demanding absolute devotion.   Required to carry no special gear, any hammer will serve as a holy symbol for a priest of Fortubo.   They gain +1 to hit and damage with any stone or metal weapon.   Children whose parents are both priests of Fortubo are blessed at birth with exceptional Wisdom (13) and Constitution (12) (base scores), and minimum scores of 11 for every other attribute.   Fortubo’s clerics plan defenses to the smallest detail and are more than willing to shoulder more than their share of the responsibility if they feel anyone else involved is incapable of pulling their weight. They search for orcs and goblins, which they, like their patron, feel harm the earth with their pointless tunneling.   Fortubo chooses one dwarven cleric to be his high priest; this will always be a character who has advanced through at least the 8th level of experience. The high priest has the ability to cast the Raise Dead spell, but can only perform the magic on dwarves and gnomes. Only one such high priest will exist at one time in the world; the current high priest is Dobfur, of the town of Dwarfhaven on Lendore Isle.

Dogma

Focus on your tasks. Do not allow yourself to be distracted by other careers or concerns outside of protecting the community. Feel the your kinship with the stone and do not cut it more than what your community needs. Commit no theft, murder, or evil, for they will shackle the dwarven people more strongly than any chains.

Major Centers of Worship

Temples to Fortubo are often (75%) set up in natural underground cave complexes or caverns, sometimes associated with a nearby mining operation. A temple dedicated to him is sometimes (25%) built above ground in an area heavily populated by dwarves and/or gnomes. Fortubo is known to have temples in various places in the Flanaess, especially in the Flinty Hills, around Irongate, and on Lendore Isle.
