A decade ago, a great inferno swept through this portion of the Old City, reducing entire blocks to charred ruins.
The fire claimed countless lives, the elderly and children suffering the most. Whispers in dark corners still claim that the fire was deliberately set—a shadow war between the Beggars' Guild and the Thieves' Guild that ended in unspeakable carnage. No proof was ever found, but for months afterward, the beggars suffered terrible retribution at the hands of the thieves.
A handful of hermits and the mad pick through the refuse by day, but none dare spend the night.
Dark rumors persist—ghostly figures seen flitting through the wreckage, whispers on the wind carrying the voices of the dead. Some claim the ruins hide the lost treasure vault of a master thief, buried deep beneath the rubble, guarded by his vengeful spirit and his three spectral hounds.
