Temple of Trithereon
This stout, fortified temple, crowned by a low stone tower, serves as the heart of Trithereon’s militant faith in Greyhawk.
The tower houses its most prized possession: a massive golden bell (worth 12,000 gp), which rings out hourly on Godsday from dawn until midnight and once per day at sunset otherwise.
The relentless gonging has driven most nonbelievers from the area, leaving only the faithful of Trithereon as neighbors. Those further away, however, resent the noise—but few dare challenge the warriors of the Summoner.
A Temple of Vengeance
The priests of Trithereon are combat-ready zealots, always prepared to do battle in the name of:
- Personal freedom
- Self-protection
- Retribution against oppressors
They often whip their congregants into a frenzy, sometimes inciting acts of violence against those they deem tyrannical. While they have restrained themselves of late to avoid official reprisals, the sect remains a volatile force within the city.
The followers of Trithereon are sworn enemies of Pholtus’s faith and other strictly lawful orders, as well as slave traders, soldiers, and officers—anyone who symbolizes authority and control.
Defenses of the Temple
The temple’s most valuable artifact, the golden bell, is protected by a permanent wall of force surrounding the tower. Any intruder who manages to bypass the priests and reaches the bell tower will face divine wrath in the form of Nemoud the Hound—a spectral, horse-sized beast that appears the moment the bell tower is breached. It attacks relentlessly, serving as Trithereon’s executioner.
Janziduur – High Priestess of Trithereon
A 37-year-old former fighter, Janziduur leads Greyhawk’s temple with fanatic devotion.
Her past is scarred by tragedy—her entire family was slaughtered by goblins when she was an infant. Vengeance has driven her ever since. Though not intellectually gifted, she has come to understand that "stupid" evil (such as goblins) is not the true enemy—rather, it is intelligent, calculated evil, embodied by:
- Dark wizards
- Evil priests
- Repressive, lawful organizations
She despises the church of Pholtus, calling them hypocrites who claim to serve good but are nothing more than lawful neutral tyrants.
Political Influence
Janziduur holds significant political sway due to her blackmail over Laup Cobrun, a powerful merchant. Though chaotic good, she is not above using underhanded tactics to further her cause. Through Cobrun, she has access to high-level intelligence from the Oligarchy’s meetings.
