Rivers of the Flanaess
Major Rivers
Artonsamay River
Navigable from Redspan to the Nyr Dyv, the Artonsamay is one of the longest rivers in the Flanaess. It serves as a vital waterway for trade and travel.
Flanmi River
This expansive river basin drains nearly the entire surrounding region. Ships can navigate the river from its mouth all the way north to Rauxes, making it one of the most crucial trade arteries in the Great Kingdom.
Javan River
The longest river in the Flanaess, though it is only navigable by large vessels up to Cryllor in Keoland. It serves as a primary waterway for trade and military movements.
Nesser River
An enormously wide river, averaging three miles across, allowing for deep-hulled vessels to traverse its length. Despite shoals and sandbars, it remains a major trade route.
Velverdyva River
The busiest waterway in the Flanaess, draining Lake Quag and emptying into the Nyr Dyv near Dyvers. Large ships can travel upstream to Veluna City, while smaller barges can go as far as Thormward.
Border and Strategic Rivers
Fals River
A tributary of the Velverdyva, it is navigable all the way to Thornward in Bissel. It forms the northern border of Veluna and passes through Mitrik, supporting significant barge traffic.
Franz River
Forms the border between Nyrond and the County of Urnst. The Duke of Urnst sends armed patrols to keep river pirates and raiders in check.
Grayflood River
Currently the boundary of the Iron League and Great Kingdom’s South Province. Once part of Sunndi, evidenced by ancient elven-built keeps along its northern banks.
Jewel River
Serving as the border between the Pomarj and the Principality of Ulek, this river is rich in gold and gemstones. It is navigable up to the Drachensgrab Hills.
Ritensa River
A site of brutal border conflicts between the Horned Society, Bandit Kingdoms, and Shield Lands. The river is fully navigable but infamous for its foul-smelling, polluted waters.
Tuflik River
Forms the border between Ekbir and Zeif. It is navigable from Ceshra to the coast, facilitating trade between these nations.
Veng River
A deep and broad river, patrolled heavily as it serves as the border between Furyondy and the Horned Society. Furyondy’s navy ensures its safety, making it an essential trade route.
Yol River
Acts as the border between Tenh and the Pale, and is navigable by barge traffic throughout its length.

Att River
Navigable past Littleberg for shallow-draft vessels.
Blackwater River
A tributary of the Dulsi River, notable for Xanxeven Point, a 300-foot sheer hill at its confluence.
Cold Run
A small tributary of the Artonsamay River.
Davish River
A cold, fast-flowing tributary of the Javan River, unsuitable for large vessels. It splits at its confluence, forming an isle called Avenstane.
Deepstil River
A tributary of the Dulsi, its shallow, clear waters run through the Vesve Forest.
Dulsi River
Originating in the Cold Marshes, it flows through the Howling Hills and into Whyestil Lake. Used by Wolf Nomads to transport goods south.
Duntide River
A vital component of Nyrond’s Nesser-Franz River system, carrying goods from Womtham and the Flinty Hills to Rel Mord.
Ery River
A tributary of the Selintan River.
Fler River
The main inlet to Lake Quag, originating near the Land of Black Ice. Believed to be navigable by large vessels.
Frozen River
A swift-flowing river, partially freezing in winter, but its waters continue to flow underneath.
Harp River
One of the longest rivers in the Flanaess, navigable for about half its length before emptying into Relmor Bay near Chathold.
Hool River
A broad, slow, and marshy waterway, it originates from Lake Spendlowe and flows through the treacherous Hool Marsh.
Imeda River
A tributary of the Flanmi, wide but shallow, allowing navigation for shallow-draft vessels.
Mikar River
A tributary of the Flanmi River.
Old River
Forms the border between the County and Principality of Ulek.
Realstream River
A tributary of the Javan, primarily used for transporting timber from the Dim Forest.
Selintan River
A heavily-trafficked waterway, linking Greyhawk City to the Nyr Dyv. Sea-going vessels can navigate as far north as Greyhawk City.
Sheldomar River
The broadest river in the Flanaess, marking the border between Keoland and the Ulek States. Navigable up to Niole Dra.
Thelly River
A tributary of the Flanmi, navigable as far as Nulbish. Barges travel from Rel Deven and Hexpools through Kalstrand.
Trask River
A major transportation artery in North Province, its mouth at Atirr is a bustling seaport exporting fine cloth.
Zumker River
Serves as the border between Tenh and the Bandit Kingdoms.
Miscellaneous & Unique Rivers
Crystal River
A safe waterway connected to the Veng River, it feeds the canals of Chendl, the capital of Furyondy.
Flessern River
A narrow, winding river of little barge traffic. Marked by the tower of Kurast, a water elementalist.
Rumikadath River
Considered sacred by local nomads, placing vessels on it is seen as an act of desecration.
Teesar Torment
A fast-moving river, dangerous for navigation.
