Patricians’ Club
The finest establishment in the Free City, the Patricians’ Club caters to the elite, offering an atmosphere of sophistication, wealth, and exclusivity.
Guests are expected to dress impeccably, with silk or satin evening wear required after dinner. The club opens late in the afternoon and remains open until the first light of dawn.
Though it is a "members only" establishment, most anyone properly attired, groomed, and able to pay the 20 gp annual membership fee is welcomed. However, known reprobates, low-class thieves, and rabble are denied entry or quickly removed. Drunkenness is tolerated, but only if the offender continues to spend lavishly and does not disturb the club’s more influential patrons.
The club's clientele includes glamorous courtesans, young knights, celebrated actors and musicians, officers, nobles, and grand dames. Elves and halflings occasionally frequent the club, though dwarves are a rare sight.
Security is maintained by Ralston Tour, an 11th-level fighter, assisted by six 5th-level fighters (three men and three women). Ralston, a master of discretion, ensures no disturbance disrupts the club’s refined atmosphere. He can always be found in the gaming rooms during operational hours.
The Patricians’ Club boasts several large gaming rooms, offering a variety of dice and card games. The cellar houses the city’s most expensive and renowned restaurant, while a smaller eatery and a well-stocked barroom occupy the first and second floors alongside the gambling areas. The third floor features a grand marbled hall, available for private events (250 gp rental fee, plus catering and musicians' costs), and has hosted many of the grandest weddings and balls in Greyhawk.
While guests often gamble amongst themselves, games played against the house always carry a 1% edge in the house’s favor—a small but steady profit for the club’s owners.
