Gold Digger Tavern

In the Old City, one tavern stands out as a fortress of dwarven camaraderie and revelry—the Gold Digger Tavern. Loud, raucous, and filled with the scent of strong ale and roasted meat, it is the favored gathering place of Greyhawk’s dwarven community.

While humans and halflings are welcome, orcs are met with hostility—and sometimes outright violence—should they dare step through the doors. Non-dwarves must check their weapons at the entrance, though the dwarves themselves remain armed and armored, as is their custom.

The tavern’s grizzled proprietor, Axel Tharnhew, is a retired adventurer of great renown. Once an explorer of the Flanaess’s darkest caverns and lost strongholds, he now spends his days overseeing his establishment—and his nights spinning tales of ancient ruins, forgotten wars, and lost treasures. Most of his stories, remarkably, are true.

The bar is run by Glenda Silvertoe, a tough-as-nails halfling matron, who keeps the ale flowing and the troublemakers in check. If a brawl breaks out, Axel and Glenda can count on 1d6+6 loyal dwarven fighters to come to their aid.

The Gold Digger offers cheap rooms and hearty meals, though taller guests will find the accommodations lacking—no bed in the establishment is longer than five feet. As such, the clientele is mostly dwarves and the occasional halfling, making the tavern a hub of demihuman gossip and intrigue in the Free City.
