City Depot
A massive barn-like structure of stone and timber, the City Depot is the nerve center of Greyhawk’s municipal operations.
Within its cavernous halls lie the city’s storage sheds, stables, workshops, and repair stations, all humming under the sharp-eyed watch of Foreman Fenrous, the city’s chief engineer.
Despite his gruff, no-nonsense demeanor, Fenrous, a shrewd and tireless gnome, commands absolute efficiency. From here, he directs:
- Garbage wagons, which make daily rounds in different districts—only to dump their loads into the river in the Free City’s rather questionable approach to sanitation.
- Street repair crews, who focus on major thoroughfares like the Processional, while side streets are often left to crumble.
- Sewermen, whitewashers, carpenters, and blacksmiths, dispatched only when absolutely needed—otherwise, they spend their time maintaining city equipment within the depot.
While the City Depot may seem like just another cog in the city’s machinery, some say Fenrous sees far more than he lets on, and that his records hold secrets the Free City's rulers would rather keep buried.
