Barge End
This muddy backwater, where a sluggish offshoot of the Selintan River sits in stagnant, mosquito-infested waters, is a place no one else wanted—so the Rhennee barge folk claimed it as their own.
During spring, summer, and fall, Barge End teems with flat, sturdy watercraft, forming a floating community. Only in winter does it sit empty, as the Rhennee pole upstream to their annual gathering along the shores of the Nyr Dyv.
At any given time, 4d10 barges are lashed together, forming a massive floating platform connected at one corner to the northern terminus of Greyhawk’s wharf.
Each barge is a well-crafted vessel, featuring a raised deck over an enclosed cabin, ranging in length from 30 to 45 feet. The largest have two masts, while the rest have just one. A typical barge houses 1d6 + 14 Rhennee, 75% of whom are capable fighters (levels 1–6) and well-armed.
Barge End functions as a self-governing, private enclave. The city inspectors and watchmen never set foot aboard—disputes among the Rhennee are settled by the Rhennee. This mutual understanding benefits all parties involved.
To the Rhennee, friendship is sacred. A friend of any Rhennee is welcomed in Barge End and may even find refuge here—but only if their friendship is strong, or their purse is heavy.
However, those unwelcome aboard should tread carefully. A disliked visitor will quickly find themselves departing over the side—headfirst into the murky waters below.
