Session 8: Climbing mountains, fighting goblins Report

General Summary

Our heroes started the night after their welcome feast, on the morning of the 18th of Capra. Reggie skipped off to get his leg sorted, and Hank was going to spend the next two days teaching Angelo how to do backflips.   Maku-Maku, Joe, and James headed over to the graveyard to find Big Freddie, after some consultation from Orthokent. At the vast graveyard they split up to find the man called Big Freddie; Maku-Maku is the first to find him in his residence. Oh and James accused some woman of necrophilia because she was grieving her husband. Anyway, Big Freddie is kind and gentle, but strong and old. He tells them about his wife and they set off. James leaves his battering ram and a few bits at Fred's house, and carries dear Rosanne.   They leave the city to the north and follow the river. After some time in the hills they reach a narrow passing along the edge of a mountain. Half way across, three goblins jump them! Oh god, not gobs. One tries doing something with a staff, which they later discover to be a mini Staff of Turning People Into a Goat. They're dispatched with, and they carry on.   Further up the mountain, they discover a young boy called Gankle that lost his sheep! Freddie follows the tracks and they find EIGHT goblins at a campfire with the sheep trapped. Our heroes (and Freddie) get the jump on the goblins and take them out pretty much without them having a single go. A big fuss about nothing. They help Gankle back down the mountain a while.   Passing through a narrow creek, the water swells. Maku thinks it's just rain, but it swells a lot. There are a TON of save checks and it goes very badly. Joe is ok, but everyone else gets swept away. James thinks quickly and fills in some earth in their path. Everyone rolls a nat 20 and they're ok. They rest for the night and 6 goblins sneak into the camp and steal half of Joe's stuff, but they kill them too.   The next morning they awaken nice and early and get to the volcanic root patch, but it's been shat on and camped in! The sealed temple in the mountain was no longer sealed and Freddie charges in with venom in his heart to slay some fucking gobs. There's a bit of a dungeon, one rooms stinks and James and MM throw up, then there's a door depicting a god falling into the ocean, and loads of dead goblins with frozen hands at its foot. Obviously someone touches it and gets hurt. The PCs decide to start crawling through the goblin tunnels and find EIGHT cultist goblins around an alter, and one boss goblin. There's a fight, but the boss escapes. They follow him up his tunnel and he's protecting a load of child and baby goblins. Freddie wants to slaughter him, but James stops him. The goblins escape.   James and Freddie have an altercation, where Freddie makes some shallow accusations on James' race (compares them to goblins being born in muck). The PCs decide to go back to finish the temple and Freddie waits outside. James figures out the door by splashing water at it! It opens and they get a couple of wooden rings with teardrops, but room starts filling with water!! Maku-Maku turns into a salmon and swims through a nook in a panic. James and Joe manage to lift a portcullis blocking their way and are free of their definite watery grave.   The journey back home is quiet, but fairly quick. Freddie thanks them, kind of half apologises to James, and gives them two items that he found: a weird iron wand, and a potion. The PCs return back to Castle Ardinham for a pint and a relax on the evening of the 19th.

A loot of around 59gp from the goblin altar. Also two wooden rings (with water drops on them) that weren't investigated.   Also, they get a +1 Wand of The War Mage and a Potion of Invulnerability from Freddie
