Session 50: The Cliffbeach Saga Part 6 Report

General Summary

Our heroes start the session climbing up to some tunnels to chase down the spider creature.
  • Isabelle's Locate Creature does well to find the way and they soon find lots of pockets of webs with spiders in them. Joe slices one and a fight kicks off. They manage to defeat the spiders and the Spellskite with little problem. They explore the tunnels briefly.
  • They decide to explore the church. Frank discovers that two of the names on the graves match the sarcophagi downstairs. Jovial finds a tomb with undercommon notes and a diary in common with "The seed is planted" 4 years ago, and "YARRIN BURNS", a month ago, and then an empty entry a few days ago.
  • They head back to the city and start exploring a little more, especially the abandoned homes. The first house has a streak of blood from the chair to the door. The 2nd a 13 year old girl has hung herself, and there was evidence of others living here. The 3rd has a fire burning with rotten and fresh food and an old woman sleeping in her bed. The 4th is a house of squatters with signs of Hecate, Goddess of Magic above the fireplace. The 5th has a huge hole in the garden down to the sewers and blood to the back windows.
  • They obviously decide to break open the sarcophagi. The skeletons are as follows: Crowridge is a human with intact robes and only a few years dead, Findrift is a human that's a century dead with a crown, Disguil is a Goliath that's decades dead and squeezed in, Gruz is an orc that's a century dead, and Vivuzia is a Satyr in their 50's with a silver hook and is some 20 years dead.
  • Their last lead is to head to the library to learn about these people. On route a bell tolls for a long time. At the top of the bell tower in a church of Hecate, is an old man shouting claims of being watched and being the only one. Jovial and Kevan get up there (after Frank's attempts are quashed), and try talking to him, only to discover that he is deaf. Jovial detects his thoughts and learns of a great evil in the city that he can only see because of his deafness.
And we leave it with the epic reveal as they all cover their ears. The pale white faces and sunken black eyes with tombstone teeth sway across the city on thin and thick fleshy necks. Blood lines the streets, corpses are strewn everywhere, people ignore it, as it plucks people out of existence. The False Hydra is real, and now our heroes can see it.
