The Draga

A very secretive people originally descended from elves. They formed a relationship with dragons and slowly became a new species because of it. They gained the ability to communicate with dragons (and wyverns) as well as ride them. Once communications were established, the dragons shared their knowledge of magick; this made the Draga some of the most powerful magick users in the world. In recent years, the Draga haven't been seen outside of Navalai in the Dragalon Mountains. Because of this, they've become more of a legend than truth amongst the human population. They have, however, been at war with The Vulmari for over three thousand years (The Great War). Draga are easily recognisable by their silver skin and the mark of a dragon-like creature on their necks. The mark grows the more the Draga uses their magick until they become the most powerful versions of themselves. The Draga are run by a select group of Elders. They're chosen at birth and grow up to learn the culture, knowledge and law of their people as well as all the known spells. There are five elders. Four dress in red cloaks and the fifth in white. This represents the four elements: lightening, wood, stone and air. The fifth Elder is the most powerful and makes the final decisions on all matters. The white cloak of the fifth Elder also represents the dragon's element: pure fire. At the heart of Navalai stands a stone tree. It's rumoured to have something at it's centre but no-one knows what it could be. The tree itself is guarded by the Shagra; tall and silent beings with large horns and empty skulls. They cannot be reasoned with and know only to kill those who try to harm the tree.
