Phonetics
Wood Elven is pronounced as written except as follows:
- r is [ ɾ ], pronounced like the tt in Kitty or little in American speech.
- rr is a trill or rolled R, like in Spanish.
- ss is a laterally lisped s, which does not exist in any real language and is made by hissing through the cheeks.
- l is pronounced [ɬ] and is analogous to l in Icelandic. This can be approximated in English pronunciation by breathing voicelessly through an h sound into an l sound.
- ll is [tɬ], which can be approximated by entering an l sound from a t sound without voice.
- x is [ç], pronounced like a y consonant with no voice or ch in some german dialects.
