Work Contract

These standard-language contracts are used by all of the noble houses and some wealthy private individuals. The worker entering the contract is guaranteed a certain quality of living and often receives some up-front payment such as having their debts paid off or medical care covered. In exchange they agree to work for the patron for a set period of time (typically measured in decades). By law, indefinite contracts are not allowed and all agreements have a carve-out or the servant to buy their way out of service--but this typically requires entering into another Work Contract elsewhere to cover the fee.
