With the Marquisse the party made contact with they’ve established a clear flow of payments from noble estates and holdings into the Beaumont Group.
The procereur isn’t just talking about credits and banknotes. Millions of livres of gold bullion, unaccounted for. He has enough to sink the Baron as-is, but with an untraceable network of near unlimitted resources the Beaumonts would be well primed to swoop in and privatize the entire city. And now the procereur recieves new orders from the Emperor to close the case then be recalled to Capital.
It’s possible the Beaumonts have bought the Emperors ear. As a loyal subject the procereur has no choice but to comply, but he wants the city and the party to be equipped to resist the Beaumont powergrab.
