The Granmont tax code is sprawling and unintuitive, with major fees penalizing those who underpay.
Formal Guild authorities are entitled to levy and collect their own taxes which are split evenly between the guild itself and the crown, less any collection fees. For instance wheat is taxed per pound, mills are taxes per foot of height, and bakers are taxed per oven.
This is in addition to the baseline window tax from the Guild itself--a fee per window is charged to building owners as a way to raise taxes without collectors needing to enter homes or residents needing to disclose their income. One consequence of this tax is that some poorer individuals will take to bricking up their windows to avoid the tax
