Railways
Metal rails connect even distant points in Granmont and surroundings, and powerful engines at vital points are able to locomote carts with great efficiency by pulling tense chains looped around the peak. Gravity pulls elevated carts back down the tracks to their destintations
Natural gas from the moutains is combusted in steam engines, powering a vast network of carts around south-central Foundry. Additional water-driven engines exist to move stuff being the district, but at much lower throughputs
Chains and ratchets are needed for stability--the slopes of Granmont are far to steep for gravity alone to hold the carts on the tracks.
