Dreamwave
The Dreamwave covers the world like a blanket, but in most places its thin and hazy, only accesible via powerful magic, and even then is a hollow and unintersting realm. However in settlements near leylines like Granmont the minds of the sleeping citizens can connect into a rich canvas of abstract thoughts and images. This plane of dreams is made of the latent psychic energy of the sleeping city, more closely reflecting the perception of the streets and sites in the cultural subconscious of its residents than the physical city itself.
The Dreamwave is most often entered on accident, often by lucid dreamers pushing the boundaries of their own dreams. These excursions are often brief and terrifying, inevitably resulting in the dreamer jolting awake as their astral self is destroyed by some imaged monster. Use of the narcotic Ulduzian Moonflower dislocated the psychic mind from body producing an out-of-body experience, and in large doses users can find themselves in the Dreamwave.
However frequent use of the Moonflower doses required necroses the body while the soul is away, eventually causing it to succumb to undeath and return to the waking world as a wight that will never sleep again.
When the body awakes any items picked up while in the Dreamwave disappear and the traveller wakes up as if it was an ordinary dream. However, waking in moments of heightened emotion when an item is burned into your consciousness sometimes results with the object being carried into the real world, even translocating from its original location in the real world.
