Iron Smelting

Discovery

During the very volatile year of 52, the Empire of the Son, was digging around in the dirt and discovered Iron. It was two months before note was taken of it. During the fifth Mesin the metal was melted by a Higher out of boredom. The end result was note by another higher, and after a few days of the notes circulating through Higher circles a Various finally got his hands on the notes, and immediately had a revelation. After another month of experimentation the first refined piece of Iron was forged. Opening up a whole new world to the various.

Utility

Iron is currently used for weapons and reinforcing stone structures, many buildings held by the Empire of the Son are reinforced by Iron. Sharp Iron pieces, made by casting it into a dipped low set mold, are used by various as weapons, and some embed into stones, or sometimes pieces of the P series creatures are wrapped around the piece, as to make a handle for both cases. Linning certain pillars with Iron, and flat stones with rivits. Sometimes entire building are made of Iron, like the top section of the The Tower. It is also used for the creation of Iron Limbs.

Manufacturing

Iron smelting comes in many forms. But there are two noted by the Curators as of now; Casting and Refining.   Casting is the simpler form. The melted form is poured into a mold. However you must purify the Iron first. Which invovles heating the Iron to a extremely high temperature. Far beyond it's melting point, as to remove imperfections from the metal. The mold is often carved into stone, but some are made out of Iron themselves. After the Iron has settled in the mold, and solidified to a certain degree, the Iron is cooled. But the colling is very tricky, as the cooling needs to be even for the metal to be of high quality. This is easier with a higher around. But various often do casting on thier own, and they use water as the cooling agent instead, making it much harder.   Refining is harder. After casting the Iron, you must cool the Iron very quickly, much more quickly than normal. After which you must heat the Iron repeatedly with different variations of Red Iron. Which will cause certain pieces of the Iron to turn into Soft Iron, which must be removed and replaced with new liquid Iron. The more this is done, the stronger the Iron gets. Cooling processes are more of the same.
