Alpine Land of Enchantement
A vassal Kingdom of the continent of Westphalia. Officially, a Grand Principality of the Kingdom of Westphalia. It is a land of proud, upright people of good character and strong loyalty and patriotism.
Structure
Ruritania is a Monarchy. It's sovereign is Prince Menion Ravenlocke, the Grand Prince of Ruritania and ArchDuke of Westphalia – Called Menion the Fair, or Menion the Just throughout Westphalia or Good King Ravenlocke by Ruritanians.
As regal and noble a sovereign as legend ever told of. Generous and kind. Fair and just. True hearted and gracious. He rules with dignity, honor and chivalrous compassion.
Beneath his majesty are several lines of noble houses with fine ancestral names. Most descended from the original Knights of Westphalia who undertook to tame the wilds of Ruritania under the leadership of the ancestral High Prince Ravenlocke in ancient days. These Houses include the Counts, Dukes, and Barons of Ruritania, as well as some Landgraves and Margraves of more recent peerage.
Public Agenda
To uphold the crown and peace of the Empire of Westphalia, in fealty to High King Chrysylophax, as an Honored Vassal Kingdom.

History
In ancient times the King of Westphalia bestowed upon the brave prince, his son, dominion over the eastern lands of the continent. The wild and untamed wilderness of these eastern marches became known as Ruritania from an old High-Westphalian tongue word for a rural or pastoral area.
Ranging outward into the borderlands, the prince and his noble nights tamed the wildlands of the east and established the settlements that became the cities and town of the kingdom that stand today.
As great foes were faced undaunted and defeated, parcels of land became the bequest of the crown of the High Prince of his great knights and the peerage of Ruritania was established by right of merit and valor.
That first High Prince ruled with wisdom and compassion, establishing traditions of rulership and governance that persist to this day. Dignity, honor, mercy, sacrifice and rectitude valued as prominently as bravery, ferocity, dauntless courage and might at arms, establishing a just and fair aristocracy, balance in honr and glory and wisdom and benevolence.
Demography and Population
Primarily a human kingdom. Its citizens are 50% human 20% Halfling, 10% Dwarf, 10% Elf and 10% everything else. But the Halflings have a great regard in the eyes of the crown. And are generally respected as ‘solid citizens’ and a ‘model minority’. The yardstick by which all other races are measured in terms of how understood and generally accepted they can be. Elves are usually deeply respected as a pinnacle-civilization race. Dwarves are respected as a highly industrious, excellent trade and mercantile race. Gnomes are handled cautiously in Ruritania as they are prone to ‘strangeness’, as the locals put it.
