Black Sharks

An offshoot of the Black Panther Party, that split off from the main group in the mid 1970s to pursue its own goals. In the mid 1980s, the group became more and more a simple street gang and lost sight of their political goals.

The Black Sharks are now strongly involved in drug trafficking in Gotham City and are based in the northern part of New Town. The gang defends their territory with massive brutality and regularly delivers street battles with the New Town Gangsta Front.

The colors of the gang are based on the panther of the Black Panthers and shows a black shark on a light colored background. This symbol is usually on a scarf or on patches.

Structure

After the Black Sharks split from the BPP, the gang restructured itself at the beginning of the 1980s. They abolished all the titles they had taken over from the BPP and created new ones named after shark breeds. The gang leader is, ironically, called The Great White, while new members are called Threshers.
