Burnside
Burnside is a district of Gotham City, and the only part of the city located outside Gotham County.
Construction first began in the area in the 1890s, as the city's expanding population began to outgrow the Islands.
Although formally part of the city, Burnside is typically treated as being a sepperate settlement by Gothamites, due in large part to its not having remained part of the USA during No Man's Land. Although it consistently ranks as one of the best places to live in Gotham, with good schools, transport links, and low crime, many Gothamites consider it a point of pride to avoid Burnside, and the population growth in the district has largely come from those emigrating from elsewhere in the country, rather than those moving out of the city proper.
