Thbod Trees (Th-od Trees)

These trees are common through the tropics and subtropics of the world. They are canopy trees that grow extremely thick trunks and branches and drop massive hard shell fruits. These fruits contain hundreds of small seeds and are partially hollow due to thier pit and have an inner skeleton to maintain structure. Due to this pit, the fruit easily floats despite its size. These trees often grow near rivers and spread their seeds when they are inevitably broken open by rapids or an animal.

Basic Information

Anatomy

This tree grows tall ,as do all canopy trees, with a thick trunk and few limbs, although a few limbs are normally located mid way up the trees, and its well known Greatfruit grows there, along with a few at the top. Due to the fruits side, it grows closer to the strong base as to not tare the tree in half given high winds, although a few do grow at the top as the trees strong tmber is ael to hold the weight.

Genetics and Reproduction

The tree grows seeds in its massive fruit and spreads them by dropping the fruit which often break upon striking a hard surface in on the ground. If the fruit were to land in a river(as the tree often grows along water ways), the fruits can float and eventually break on rapids or by an animal. This water way spreading has led to the tree growing on any coast that can support them.

Ecology and Habitats

Thbod trees like to grow where water is very assessable like rainforests, and water ways. They commonly grow in hot temperatures but can live in cooler temperatures(~14C degrees minimum). They also require ground soil that can atke thier massive weight and often grow in rocky areas.

Additional Information

Uses, Products & Exploitation

Thbod trees are used for two major products. Their Greatfruit have long fed entire villages on Tdoh Toesoh and Curians have set up a few plantations dedicated to harvesting the fruit, although due to the trees long growing period and size, its proven difficult to industrlized. Secondly, the trees timber is a hardwood and are quite strong compared to other hardwoods, even gaining the nickname "Iron Timber" when harvested. Curian Lumber mills have started to exploit the abundnt number of these trees on Tdoh Toesoh.

Geographic Origin and Distribution

Thbod plants can be found on almost any coast with lowlands and a temperature range of 14-27C degrees. They nativly come from Tdoh Toesoh.
