The Creator Gods

Summary

The Ancient Ones created two powerful Gods, Izanagi and Izanami, who both formed and saw to the creation of Gondwana and its inhabitants.They were a formidable duo, but were not to be joined, for fear of the Ancient Ones wrath. Izanagi, wielding a mighty Naginata carved the mountains, and Izanami using powerful magics covered them in trees and snow. At the dawn of mankind, the pair grew affectionate and Izanagi invited her to bed with him in a ritual. This forbidden union sent forth the first demonic offspring into the world and man first knew suffering. To combat them, and to reaffirm their love, Izanami courted her partner and invited him to a ritual of her own. Their union sent forth many heroes and magnificent beings, who warred with the dark descendants. This came at a cost, and while giving birth to another great entity, Izanami died, and was sent to Yomi, the Land of the Dead.
Izanagi was distraught and would not accept the fate of his beloved. He ventured to the realm of Death only to find her body, decomposing at an unnatural rate. She had eaten the fruits of the Underworld and become impure. When he turned to leave her, she sent all manner of beast to fight him, bring him to her for them to remain together, forever. But Izanagi escaped, so they say, long enough to sire three other children. The sun, the moon, and the ocean. The strongest of the three was Amaterasu, who ascended as the Sun Goddess, Empress of the Spirit World.
