Session 3: The Bird, the Cat, and the Hat

General Summary

Last we left off, the group stood before the remains of the city of Adheath where Dart flew ahead to check out the current landscape where he came upon two people sitting in chairs on the outskirts of the city. Landing, he began talking to them and a Tiefling with a metal arm who went by the name of Doctor Gaterth Voss advised them that it wasn't safe in the city and that they could lead them through for a price. Once the group caught up there was some additional dialogue; however, they soon came to realize that a trap had been sprung. A mighty battle ensued; however, the bandits of the leader of the Technocratic Syndicate Talon Thorne revealed themselves to the group and led an onslaught, taking them out one by one. As darkness settled on the group, they were awakened by the sounds of talking and the smells of a cigar wafting around a small room. The group had been placed in a jail cell with Dart on a table being prepped to experiment on and two guards and a darker compexioned man with a point hat on playing cards at a table were watching the group as they learned Talon had to step away. This man with the pointy had introduced himself to the group, told the old man that he was a big Dot and offered them a beverage; however, Ray had heard of this man through his mentor Ignor and decided to attempt a name drop. After some banter between the group, they came to a subtle agreement that this The Hat would be owed a favor. Slipping Ray the key, the group escaped from the prison cell. As they moved out, they noticed multiple potions along the walls as well as their weapons and armor that had been discarded into a bin. Doc ran forward and grabbed his spellcasting focus off of a shelf and burst through the door where Dart was tied down with another guard inside while the rest of the group fought off the other two guards. A loud scream echoed throughout the small room and then the sounds of spells being fired off as Doc witnessed the guard in the room tearing open the bird. The hat also stabbed one of the guards through the throat that was coming after Annghorhast while Ray finished off the one that had just killed Dart. Taking a few moments to grieve, Ray decided that he would take the bird with them and shoved a sapphire into Dart's body to have him become his new homunculus servent. The Hat finding this amusing as well as seeing that they were down a member of the group, called in a favor from a current ally. A Tabaxi named Ghost who was a sniper. Tossing her a pretty substantial amount of gold, he told her to stay with the group for a while until they hit Lindorthell in their journey knowing that place had some form of substance to Ghost as well as knowing that this was the group that was undertaking the pilgrimage they would eventually make their way there. Leaving, the group gathered their things and made their way out of the city with Ghost's help. Not a single guard was made aware of their presence despite their best efforts. Leaving the city the group passed through the hospital town of Trealing before reaching Prul, Ray's home town. Entering Ray's home they ran across his mother Elara Cyst who embraced him and ended up giving him a sending stone that his brother Narci had left behind. After a conversation with Narci the Cyst family eventually began coming in. First, it was his sister Liora who was on her intership and had exciting news about the old mines and that a vein of Aetherium had been located and she was going to lead through the expedition. After some words between the two, she also informed Ray that she had been busy as well with information gathering for their trials and had located a few of the items and had found a riddle that they had to solve for the third item for the temple of Bhita. She also told him that if they could find the Aetherium then maybe they could get the train running again through the mountains as their group had taken several months to get through the perious journey to the temple and back. They then met Mira Cyst , the youngest and most artistic of the two. She hung out with Ghost most of the night. Eventually Ray's father Thaddeus Cyst came home and informed them that they had received help from a city called Windbury and were utilizing the grand forge to help reshape some of their infrastructure. He also offered the group to upgrade some of their weaponry as they looked terrible. The group then ate and slept that night. Awakeneing the next morning, they journeyed to the temple of Bhita where Annghorhast prayed to her utilizing the most modern kneeling technologies made for the elderly. Ray also did some small time maintenance within the temple while the rest of the group merely hung around. They then went to the grand forge where they were able to upgrade their weapons rather quickly and efficiently as it seemed the dwarves from this city called Windbury - The Technical City were very efficient in what they were doing and showed great promise to the expansion and continued rehabilitation of the city. After this, the group made their way to the enterance of the mines where Liora Cyst was waiting for them along with the kobold contractors from Braymor - The Mining City .
