Ferenel Arannis

Master of Flesh

"Flesh is but clay, and I am its master. Through pain and hunger, I have learned that the body is nothing more than a vessel for will. The true power lies not in the beating of the heart or the flow of blood, but in the shape that I choose to impose upon it. To control the flesh is to control destiny itself. And when the world has been shaped into my image, the curse of immortality will be but a fleeting memory."

Personal history

Ferenel Arannis was born in 601 on the borders of the vast, ethereal woodlands known to his people today as Llanfyll . He was a noble of his moon elf family, well-versed in the arcane arts and deeply attuned to the natural world. In his youth, Ferenel was renowned for his beauty, intellect, and mastery of ancient elven magic, particularly those tied to the manipulation of the very fabric of life itself. However, tragedy struck during the turmoil that surrounded Tyshala’s murder and Krorone’s transformation into the dark goddess. Ferenel’s devotion to Tyshala and the purity of the moon elf traditions led him to resist Krorone’s call, unable to accept her new, corrupted form. His defiance was seen as a grievous affront by the newly ascendant Krorone, who cursed him and his kin, transforming them into the first vampires. In the beginning, Ferenel wandered the lands, seeking redemption, hoping to reclaim his lost humanity, but his hunger soon began to overpower his will. Unable to resist the bloodlust, he grew more distant from his elven origins, eventually losing his connection to his former life and family.

Ferenel was one of the first to experience the full scope of vampirism’s potential. As the years wore on, he began to experiment with his own body, testing the limits of his new form. He discovered that the curse didn’t just affect his mind—it fundamentally altered his very essence. He could reshape his body at will, molding it into whatever form suited his needs. The first time he successfully transfigured his body was a revelation. His flesh could warp and stretch; his senses became sharper, more focused. He realized that this was his true power—not just immortality, but a mastery over his own form. This ability was not innate; it was something he learned through trial, error, and necessity. The process was painful—he often had to push through moments where his body fought against the transformation—but with time, he began to perfect his fleshcrafting. He also learned that this ability wasn’t limited to himself. Over time, he could extend it to others, reshaping mortal bodies to serve his will. His creations were not simply puppets—they were extensions of his will, reflections of his growing control over life and death.

As centuries passed, Ferenel’s transformation into the Master of Flesh was complete. He no longer viewed himself as a mere vampire, but as a godlike figure capable of reshaping the very fabric of existence. His experimentation expanded beyond simple physical transformation—he sought to manipulate souls, bind the essence of life to his creations, and explore the full depths of his vampiric powers. Ferenel was now capable of creating entire families of vampires, shaping their bodies and their fates from the very beginning. His influence over his creations was absolute. No longer did he need to rely on mere followers or thralls—he crafted vampires who were loyal not just to him, but to the very essence of his being.

Despite this, Ferenel’s internal battle continued. The longer he lived, the colder he became. His emotions had long since dulled, and the hunger that had once driven him to madness had become a means to an end. He no longer sought redemption or vengeance. Instead, he sought knowledge and mastery—mastery over life, over death, and over the very curse that had been forced upon him. His power grew to such an extent that he began to pull the strings in the mortal world from the shadows, using his influence to manipulate entire cities, creating pawns out of mortals and vampires alike. The city of Trealing, with its promise of life and death in equal measure, became his new domain. Beneath the city, Ferenel set up his lair, a hidden sanctuary where he could continue his experiments and work toward his ultimate goal: transcending the curse of vampirism, or at the very least, reshaping it into something that no longer controlled him.

"In the halls of healing, I find the perfect symphony of life and death. The sick, the dying—they are my sustenance, my nourishment. But they are more than just food. They are pawns in a grander design, their suffering the foundation upon which I shall build my dominion. This hospital, this sanctuary of life, shall serve only me—both as a refuge and a harvest. Here, I rule not only their bodies, but their very fate."

Intellectual Characteristics

Throughout his long existence, Ferenel has been both a scholar and a ruthless tactician. His intelligence is vast, and he possesses a mind that blends cruelty with cold logic. His understanding of both mortal and immortal psychology is unmatched, making him a master manipulator. Ferenel enjoys playing the long game, watching as the plans he sets into motion unfold over decades, sometimes even centuries. His intellectual approach to life is strategic and detached. Emotions no longer guide him, only the pursuit of knowledge, power, and the manipulation of others. Ferenel views the world as a puzzle, with every person and event a piece to be moved according to his design. His obsession with control has shaped his twisted form of vampirism, where his understanding of life has become perverted into a need for dominance and mastery over others.

Personality Characteristics

Motivation

Ferenel Arannis now remains in the shadows of Trealing, where he has entrenched himself in the city's underbelly. His ancient lair, a series of underground crypts and chambers, holds numerous relics of his past life and the artifacts he has accumulated over the centuries. He uses his influence to maintain control over the city’s healthcare system, secretly utilizing its populace to feed his vampiric need, and uses his followers to manipulate the political and economic landscapes. His endgame is yet unknown, though he is rumored to be searching for a way to undo his curse, seeking a ritual that will free him from the chains of immortality or elevate him to a new, greater form of existence.
