1. The Artifact

Starting:   Jordan - Gets his magic letter with a name from the hat from a nightly rest at the inn Henry - Wakes up next to a woman Has a performance that night in the inn Dustin - Gathering herbs for the local apothecary and has to go to the bar for payment Quint - Stops to help someone with a broken wagon heading in the opposite direction and is given a discount at the inn JJ - a pond with a premonition and dustin being able to see him. He will arrive as the wagon crashes   Starting in a small town in the south, the group will band together and deliver Nebnuss Smenklie who is a halfling/human (daddy is human) and Iggo to the arcane academy. Her father (Ethan Smenklie) is there from Trosall on an important political mission while her and her mother was down at their beach house on vacation where her presence was requested. She also met up with Iggo who sailed across down from the winter continent and was requested that they travel together. The driver is her personal assistant Jeeves. They are taking normal roads and are attacked by a group of undead that have started spawning. The bar/inn that they crash into will initiate their gathering together and she will push the group by any means necessary to come with her. The two guards that she has will piss themselves and leave or die.   Mr. Bearington - Jordan Sneaky man - Dustin Kettleman - Quint Dancy man - Henry Bluey - JJ   They will travel through the elven forest for a few days and have to go through the desert through Chillglen. There could be some dialogue with a curious elf with dustin curious of why he's here and with these people.   Road Encounters: The road ahead is blocked by two caravans, who are arguing over right-of-way.   A goat wearing cavalier boots bleats at a shrine beside the road. He got into an argument with a traveling student to kixelts that polymorphed him into a goat.   A male halfling minstrel named Bilbo. He plays a copper lyre strung with lightning.   A caravan of merchants led by a female half-orc named Monda. They are escorted by a company of well-armed half orc soldiers from Vrido.   Arriving in Chillglen, the group will arrive during a raid and have to stop them; people and animals will have been carried off. They can choose to challenge the sand king; however, they might find that he's a little too powerful for them at the moment. Nebnuss will be carried off/kidnapped (or not, but they will make an attempt to grab her). If not she will find a town girl stating that Mr. Snuggles has been catnapped! The group will encounter the fire snake who will talk to them and should they FAFO, they'll have to fight him but if not he will point them in the direction of the temple where those there are offering sacrifices, creating mummies, and working towards the means of their dark god Vecna but it will only be known as "The Dark One". He will assist the group in taking down the howler because it attacked him. The snake shows high intellengence and was a magical creature that escaped experitmentation at Kixelts. After this, they will return to the town and be thanked for returning the captured villagers (what few they can save) as well as Nebnuss.   On the final rest before the school arrival, they will be met by an older gentleman with a hat and a brown robe. He will be a bounty hunter headed down from the docks near the town where they left and asks if he can rest with them. He offers some stories and guidance along wtih the fact that this bounty will be his last job. His name is Laudis.   The group will arrive at the magic school. Theoden will be having talks with the magic school in regards to maintaining a peaceful effort between the two continents and establishing better trade routes between both continents and the winter continent. There will also be wanted posting for the Sikkums Brigade out detailing the marks on the hands and any information regarding these low lifes should immediately be reported to the proper authoroties. The group will be able to get into Kixelts easy enough because they will be the body guards of Nebnuss.   While going through town towards the school...   A troupe of street performers have stopped to practice their art. One is dressed as a green orc with silver wings. One has a big robot head. One has a giant shroom cap. One has black face. And one is dressed as a green dragon born. The lich is dressed as royalty with purple streamers flowing off of it. In front of the group a bard sings the tale of the final battle as the group pulls up. Most of them appear to be somewhat fey in appearance if a perception check is made.   "And so they fought as hard as can be, using all their tricks and then some you see." The balazar person stops and drops water between his legs and says, "Oh no, it's not a bed but I had to pee and that makes me aaaaannngggrryyy!" They go over to a chest and open it up and start throwing out random things like cups, a mini cart, and different props. "They threw everything that had at this fiendish man, from carts and claws and even bare hands. The battle pressed on and they began to fall down, the mage, the robot, and the mushroom turned brown. (the music slows down and dark) Hope was fleeting and death was at hand, they knew it was over and they had failed their land. But there was a glimmer of hope in this dark clouded room and a hero swept in atop a broom!"   From then a ragged person sitting on top of a prop broom with a pointy spear sails in and sings out. "Tis I, never fear the great gunthar is here! I'll fly in and stab him with my great spear. Way up high he can't touch me..." And the lich says, "Oh no, what is this fey trickery?!" The group surrounds the lich and "beat him down" and Gunthar stands with the bard holding the spear up victorious. "And so our hero has slain the lich, with the help of his friends...they stomped that bitch. But like all heroes a cloud of mystery alights and our hero disappears in the darkness of night. The group goes off and goes on about their way, but we won't forget the real hero...Gunthar, Champion of the Fey."     The first night in Kixelts that is.  
  • The first night Jordan will have a dream where he is walking down a dark road and a figure stands before him. This figure is a walking mouth with an eye hovering above it with bat wings grown out of it. It holds out its hand and presents a gauntlet. "RICHES". "FIND"
  • Henry will have a dream that he is at a party and the incubus that is after him will be there. He will do everything he can do dodge and hide, but he will be found out and a cloaked figure will stepped in front of him. The demon suddenly looks around, unable to see him and scoffs telling henry that he can't find from him forever. The world swirls for a moment and he finds his new friends dying on the ground. The cloaked figure extends out a hand with a gauntlet and places it on top of henry's and says, "AGAIN." and henry casts multiple spells to revive them. The world swirls away as he stands back in the room where friends and everyone else there began cheering for him. The figure slowly steps out from everyone and holds out the gauntlet, "FAME AND POWER. FIND."
  • Dustin will have a similar dream, out in the woods gathering materials and pulls a tree root and falls into a hole of skeletons where atop a throne of bones a hooded figure offers a gauntlet to him. "REDEMPTION. FIND."
  The two holy people will be protected for now; however, once they have the artifact on their possession, the tie to their god may be cut off at random times.   Level Up to 4!   There will be some downtime. Jordan can find the guy to hand over the sand to. Henry can attend classes for bardship. Quint can possibly attend an artificing class. Not sure what dustin would do and JJ would be slightly shunned due to the fact that his magic is divine rather than arcane although there would be one teacher there that is a druid by the name of Hasira Autumnbrook that would take a liking to the elves because of their compatibility with nature.   Town encounters at the school:  
  • A wererat harlot appears human, except for her long whiskers.
  • A cyclops quarrels with an innkeeper over accomodations.
  • A female human cleric named Ealhbun. She seems frantic, and is preparing to sacrifice herself with a jagged dagger because of a lost connection with her god Pelor as she came here hoping that someone in the arcane arts could help her where the church could not.
  • A mangy dog stands defensively over a sleeping male human beggar.
  • A gang of red-eyed rats drags a bloodied raven into a derelict shrine.
  The necromancer will begin her work to steal the artifact as she knows what it truly is. Someone will stop her as she sabotages the area, flooding it with water as the group rides down with the artifact into the sewers. They will ultimately end up with the artifact and must decide on where to take it so it's safe. The most obvious choice would be the dwarven magic school where they will be able to open it and find the eye of vecna. During the fight, Nebnuss will run up and "bite" her leg and then get pushed away, but she will have stolen the artifact. The fight will come to a close and she will put the item in Jordan's pocket while wishing him good luck "Mr. Bearington" and to go to Zedsia. The room will seal off as the water pours in and flood gates will open beneath as the missing artifact holder will seal up and they will ride down the length water tube and outside through the purge overflow and wash down into the sewers. Once in the sewers, Jordan will be lit up with the artifact. Nebnuss will have created a ring of water breathing.     While in the sewers, they will have a chance to collect themselves and figure out what they want to do. Mutated rat created persist around with an adamantine spider as well as the sewer cleaner that removes all organic materials. Eventually they will escape the sewer and decide where they need to go next. For the time being, their travels will be sprinkled with bandits attacking Jordan because he "stole" the artifact and made enemies of the hat and two bounty hunters coming after Henry.   If they go towards Heggolar, the group will find themselves intermingling with Smithy's family. Geran will be there and will beg the young master to please return home. Regardless, Geran will leave and head back to Trosall to let them know that their son is alive. The head of the smiths will find Smithy to be a stain on their family and will not welcome them there; however, one of the elder ones that has been shunned will invite them down into the lower depths and explain that the Smiths have lost their way and have given up building great weapons for heroes to make generic armor and weapons as quickly as possible for a profit in a contract with Trosall. He will also tell smithy that he's proud of his mother for following her dreams and removing herself from the stagnant air that is festering around here and that if given the opportunity he'd even partake of some non-dwarven poon. The group will also find out that the head of the family, Smithy's Grandfather has gone down into the depths to deal with an undead problem. The group will need to make a quick exit of the smith spire, but the remaining parts of the town will be available. The remaining spires will be of a similar story. One of them will be making magic items; however, their backlog is huge because they build for Kixelts. They will encounter the undead centuar where smithy's grandfather will end up saving him by shedding the armor and protecting him, giving him some insight into his mother's slightly jaded history with the family.   At the end of Heggolar, they will meet Levza who is the harlet and tarrot card reader and will read henry's fate allowing him to pull cards from the deck to determine his fate. On the next long rest, they will each level one, each one with a dream. Henry with his patron offering more protection, quint will speak with his dwarven ancestors, JJ will speak to the ocean god and he will explain that they carry the fate of the world in their possession and he will need to be stronger to assist with it.    Traveling towards Zedsia, they'd have to go through the forest where they'd meet dwarves cutting down the trees with griffons standing around them. Some dialogue could happen, but they will be harvesting the magical lumber from the forest. Entering primary portion of the school, they will stand in a teleportation cicle where they will meet the primary keeper of the school and he will investigate the artifact. Once dropping Nebnuss's name, he'll regale in some shananigans in regard to her and allow them inside where they will take the artifact. they'll be transported up into the mountain via teleportation circle and will see the city of the mountain where all are welcome for the sake of peace and magic.   They will find a mixture of religeons in Zedsia; however, it all focuses around the moon and balance. Sharindlar the lady of mercy is the primary goddess of worship. They will meet the primary priestess and dustin will be able to have a conversation in regards to it.    Ultimately, whatever path they take they will end up Zedsia where they will explain that a dark power eminates from it and they will need time to examine it. They will meet the elven apothecary shop owner and he might have some things for them if they're willing to trade. The night of the full moon will be upon them hopefully while they're there and they will be able to see the party in full swing and get some more information. Within the temple there wll be a life celebration, an orgy, and just good tiding all around with tithes being given to the goddess.   Eventually, they will call them back and allow them to open it.   While in Zedsia, Jordan will receive a message from the Hat that says he needs to take the group to Trosall where they will be ambushed and taken before Gror Nozisk of the Iron Parliament while Jordan's benefactor the hat would consider him forfeit due to him taking the artifact based on allegations from the school.    They will be led to a room where the spider of Nebnuss will discuss with them about everything regarding the situation and that she found out that that Vo was up to no good, but she couldn't spin it that way because the guards seemed to have it out for her and them killing Vo wasn't in the best of intentions. After this conversation they will be led to see the Iron Parliament member.    Entering the room, they will be finishing up a trial on a child that attempted to steal some magic items from them and got caught. He will explain that there is no family for this child and according to locals he has been stealing food and pickpocketing and is a bane on society. There are two high level wizards with disentegrate set up and ready to go along with two stone golumns at the doors. He will ask the group what should he do with the child and take it into consideration before ultimately distenigrating the young fiend because he has failed society and explain that he came up from nothing and achieved greatness by following the path he did without all of the evil stuff.   The hat will be there shakled and beaten up and will plead to lucid to help him. He will explain that he came there for negotiations, but because of the groups previous actions, questions of trust came into play and his life depends on this and begs lucid to hand over the artifact that was taken.   They will be forced to remove their gloves for introductions and to show that Dustin is one of the "bad people" that they are searching for in the sikkums brigade. Any hesitation could result in disentigration and he will assure the group that no matter their crimes, their case is special and perhaps arrangements can be worked out depending on how this all goes.   He will place the armor on the table and let them know that all investigations are complete and explain to them that they had to keep the armor for an investigation happening. He will threaten Smithy's family (although he doesn't know who they are, or didn't before smithy left the armor) and toss the armor onto the table and explain that he has already spoken to his mother and she is safe for now; however, his family could be charged with treason depending on the conversation and intentions.    He will let henry know that he has a country bumpkin of a bounty hunter locked away and produce the blood magic amulet that would have been used to track him and the fact that the guard took notice to it the moment that they entered the city.    He will explain that they have three weeks to bring him back a totem of power from Lar Azrel. They will have to spend the night in jail where. If they fight back then they will be dealt non-lethal damage and knocked out. During the night, they will be visisted by Ethan and he will advise the group against returning the weapon back to Gror and he would secure their future and be able to weed out the corruption if they would return the relic back to him. Nebnuss will apologize to the group after she tells them she's unsure of what it is, but she knows that it's bad.   This will end Arc 1 level up to 5 will occur.

Plot points/Scenes

Dustin has his merc stuff, Henry is actually a changling that impregnated the daughter of one of the incubi of Kasaka and he killed her (along with an attempt on Henry) and lost the expansion deal which is why there is a hot springs resort at Cabba falls now rather than an expansion of Kasaka.
