Bhaal

Bhaal, the Great Tyrant, embodies the belief that the natural state of all beings is subservient to him, and he demands that all of creation kneel to his might. He harbors an innate for gods of life and death such as Ceres, Morbus and Osirion for their arrogance in claiming dominion over lifes cycles and chooses to corrupt life in proving the opposite. Bhaal's corruption extends to the dead, both in body and spirit, giving rise to various forms of undead. He drains life from plants to create blight, infuses corpses with his wrath to animate them, and grants drops of his blood to the living, bestowing upon them his will to dominate.   Despite his tyrannical nature, Bhaal adheres strictly to lawfulness, viewing his word as absolute and never refuting it himself. However, he is adept at deception, capable of twisting truths to serve his own ends.   Ancient grudge: When mortals first emerged in the world, Bhaal became deeply intrigued by the prospect of dominating and controlling them, leading to the rise of powerful empires in his name. These empires, characterized by rigid and unforgiving power structures, sought to conquer all they encountered. However, their dominance came to an abrupt end with the emergence of Vendragos, the lord of destruction and change, who laid waste to these kingdoms and shattered their hierarchies. Since then, Bhaal and Vendragos have been bitter rivals, perpetually seeking ways to thwart each other's plans. Bhaal's aid proved instrumental in preventing Vendragos from returning to the material plane, intensifying their enduring enmity   Worship: Whilst still frowned upon by most of the world the worship of Bhaal has been legalised as a condition of Bhaals aid in thwarting Vendragos.  Despite this many of his more open followers still get arrested due to the nefarious acts and rituals that Bhaals demands of his worshipers. Bhaal finds most of his humanoid followers in the forms of cults to undeath, necromancers and those that seek to escape death via lichdom or becoming a death knight. Alternatively many of the more ambitious nobles that wish to rise above their station or regents seeking to keep their people in line may find themselves drawn to Bhaal. However his most prominent followings are in non-humanoid societies, one won't be shocked that ghoul cities worship Bhaal however one may be suprised to know that a significant portion of his followers are underwater who depict him as a large crustacious king, the sahuagin pay him homage and even some krakens are known to abandon worship of Morrow is enchange for Bhaal.
Domains: Death Tyranny Necromancy
Symbols: The Iron Crown The Rotting Tree Iron chains
Realm: Irkalla Bhaal's dominion, Irkalla, is a realm of oppressive tyranny and death, divided into three distinct layers that mirror the unyielding structure of his power. Each layer reflects a different facet of his dominion, from war to commerce to utter desolation.     The First Layer: The Wastes of Strife   The outermost layer serves as the battleground between Irkalla and Vendragos’ limbo, a constant front line in their eternal struggle, Bhaal prefers the front line to be in his own realm where he can maintain control rather than marching into the chaos of limbo. Barren and scorched, the land is littered with remnants of countless battles, from rusted weapons to skeletal remains. Overseeing this war-torn wasteland is Gorath, the first Death Knight, who commands his legions with unyielding precision.   The inhabitents of this layer reside in the several massive floating fortresses scattered throughout its vastness, the greatest of which serving as the bastion of Gorath.   The most notable feature of the Wastes is the Black Gate, a towering obsidian portal that leads to the second layer. Guarding this gate is Cerberus, a monstrous three-headed hellhound, each head imbued with a fraction of Bhaal’s wrath. Those who approach without his permission are swiftly torn apart.   The Second Layer: The Necropolis   Known as the Necropolis, the second layer is the economic and social heart of Irkalla. The layer is dominated by a sprawling, labyrinthine city—one of the grandest and most infamous metropolises in all the planes. Here, the streets are a chaotic mix of macabre beauty, with buildings crafted from bone, obsidian, and petrified wood. An endless menagerie of merchants—including night hags, liches, and fiendish traders—peddle wares ranging from cursed relics to enslaved souls.   Menial labor is carried out by the tormented souls of those unwillingly corrupted by Bhaal, their agony fueling the city’s relentless activity. At its center rises the Obsidian Spire, an immense tower where the archdaemon Malachor oversees the day-to-day governance of the Necropolis. Within this tower lies the only passage to the third and final layer, accessible only by Bhaal’s decree.   The Third Layer: Acheron   The innermost layer, Acheron, is a desolate land shrouded in eternal gloom. Dead forests claw at the ash-filled skies, and spectral winds carry the whispers of the damned. This barren wasteland is haunted by vengeful ghosts, wraiths, and shadowy blights that patrol its vast expanse.   At the heart of Acheron stands Bhaal’s Fortress, a foreboding citadel of black iron and jagged stone. Within its dark halls lies Bhaal’s court, where his most loyal servants—vampires, liches, death knights and archdaemons—convene to enforce his tyrannical will. The skies above are dominated by dracoliches, ancient dragon undead that serve as both guardians and symbols of Bhaal’s dominion
