Letter the Third

General Summary

Mother,   We completely transported to another city. It was both striking and instantaneous. Our guide knows the place, and we were quickly shown to rooms.   This is by far the most appropriately appointed accommodations I have yet encountered. We bathed (what a pleasure) and dined, then were summoned for an audience with the ranking official of this society: the Keeper.   Fortunately we agreed before our encounter that we would share our information with this obviously benevolent society. I am relieved, as they seem as interested in the Sylvans as we.   The Keeper was quite intrigued by our story, and exceptionally interested in our findings. Some members of our tiny group keep information very close, and my trust of them goes no farther than an unfletched arrow.   But we did share, and even gave over some of our artifacts. They can make better use of them than we can. We transcribed the letters before letting the go, of course. And we allowed them to examine even the artifacts we chose to retain.   Perhaps the most interesting thing about the interaction is the stipend we received for our trade in goods and information: 2,000 gold.   While a true pittance in the real world, it will do me wonders down here, absent the support of the court and all of its attending affects. I will spend wisely, of course, Master Goldencrest's lessons were not lost on me.   Tomorrow we head out into the city, where I plan to acquire an imbued bow and perhaps some arrows to match. I am hoping to discover an armorer skilled enough to craft armor befitting an Aarakocra.   I have also noticed the amount of attention I seem to draw. I am surrounded by beings without wings. Constantly and completely. Not a single person here has wings. None. They seem to think it strange to have wings, while what remains truly strange is inhabiting a being lacking them. So I'll seek out a tailor who can perhaps craft a clock that might hide my wings when I desire such anonymity.
