Republic of Taisas

Vrairik a Taisas

Let's not think of what came before us, but instead, strive to begin anew, as if the world had always been littered with the crumbling remnants of an advanced civilisation.
— Keila, Valler of Taisas

Structure

Valler

The Valler of the Republic of Taisas is the country's head of government. They can freely come up with new laws and enact them without anyone's interference. A Valler serves their country until their death, or until the Council of Taisas deems them too tyrannical or incapable of leading the Republic.

When a Valler dies or resigns the Council of Taisas rules over the country and organizes an election where every citizen will be able to vote for whoever they want as their leader.

The current Valler of the Republic of Taisas is Keila.

Council of Taisas

The Council of Taisas was formed by the first Valler of Taisas, Keila, in 20 AGA. The organization consists of multiple Councillors, all of who serve as the leaders of the country's administrative districts. Their job is to represent the interests of their district, to advise the Valler, and to organize new elections.

Councillors, just like the Valler, serve for life. When they die their local administrative district will go under the direct control of the Valler whose duty will be to hand the land to someone else.

Public Agenda

The Republic of Taisas has officially declared that its goal is to be a safe haven and to protect its citizens from the chaos of the outside world. The state desires to build up its defensive capabilities to the point where random bands of raiders wouldn't be able to threaten it. Another important goal on the state's agenda is self-sufficiency. While they currently make use of a lot of old machines, they barely understand how most of them work and therefore lack the knowledge to build more of them. To solve the problem, the state began rewarding scavengers who brought back valuable technology and offered its scientists more support.

Agriculture & Industry

Fishing

The ground was covered with snow throughout most of the year and because of this, the republic's citizen looked to the sea for food. From what scarps they could find they constructed new sea-fairing vessels for their important industry. Most of the fishers use nets and fishing rods, but when encountering large whale-sized water beasts they bring out the harpoon launchers and rifles.

There are multiple companies who compete in the market and each of them has armed their ships so that the fishermen can protect themselves from potential raiders. A few skirmishes between the different companies have occurred when some of their ships got too close to the other companies waters, but in such circumstances, the state has interfered and given them a slap on the hand. Since they control the main source of food, the fishing industry has a lot of power and can influence the Republic's politics.

Power

Soon after its establishment, the Republic of Taisas settled the HH-054 Geothermal Plant. This source of power allowed the fledgeling nation to gain an advantage over the neighbouring bands, gangs, and tribes. With their reliable source of fuel, the government provided their citizens with warmth, rebuilt and kickstarted a weapons manufactory, and established its dominance in the region.

In 21 AGA the Valler gave the power plant to a state-owned company called the Taisari Electricity Company, or TEC for short. The company saw opportunities to expand by repairing windmills and selling the electricity to others outside of the Republic. Not only did this investment into more power help make the company wealthier but it also made the nearby groups rely on Taisari electricity, ensuring that they wouldn't invade anytime in the future. At least not without becoming self-sufficient first.

Firearms and Ammunition

Not keen on protecting themselves with old weapons that had been in the snow for a few centuries and were likely to malfunction, the Taisari looked for a better source of weapons than the ruins that their homes were built on top. As the residents gained access to electricity an entrepreneurial young woman got the idea to renovate and repair one of the old factories and to turn it into a weapons and ammunition manufactory.

The government noticed caught wind of the project and offered to help with the initial renovation process. By the early spring of 23 AGA everything had been ready for the manufacturing on new firearms. The new company, Gale Arsenal, used the metal from some of the old machines that they had discarded to construct the new guns. Later, when they had already made a profit, they began importing the materials from the tribes that bordered Taisas.

Taisari Space Program

In the late autumn of the year 23 AGA, the Taisari Defense Force, or TDF for short, launched their first probe into space. Thousands of proud citizens looked on in excitement and disbelief as the rocket blasted off into space. A month later the military tried a second launch but instead of a rocket, they used an old space-faring oil transportation vessel that a few scavengers had uncovered beneath the ruins of a colossal tower and later given to the government for a hefty reward.

The ship was crewed by four people who had received a brief guide to piloting before they had to fly beyond the planet's atmosphere. When the message that they had successfully accomplished their mission reached military they gave them the signal to return back home, but instead, the crew explored their planet from orbit, recording everything with the ships in-built cameras.

From above they could see new opportunities for expansion, warmer climates more suitable for agriculture, and as they were about to turn back and prepare for the landing phase, they spotted another space-fairing vessel. They had realised that they weren't the first to reach the stars and that all of mankind had awakened from its long slumber.
