Starchildren

Emissaries of the elder evils from beyond the void, the starchildren are beings of perfect thought, sprung from primordial chaos. Their true forms resemble migrains in space, fluorescent eldritch lights of pure energy. They cannot sustain these forms in realspace, and must travel through emissaries or living bodies they posess. Most starchildren choose to fashion bodies of void-larvae that can be caught in the void, making bodies of hundreds and thousands of tiny writhing maggots. 
They are parasites, never truly creating anything for themselves but rather stealing from others, taking what they desire and leaving nothing but lifeless rock behind them. All races who know of them fear and respect them, and the greatest astral empires must always struggle against them. Even at the height of its power, the Ilithid Dominion could expand only little into limbo, and were always harassed by the starchildren.
The only race that has had any luck fighting back are the githzherai, who have made enclaves of relative safety and stability in limbo. They fight the starchildren from their Solemn Cities, but they are mostly left alone, as they contribute nothing more to the starchildren than the limbo-matter they are already made of. It is in starchildren nature to hunger for that which they cannot have, and the githzherai have no such thing as they too sustain themselves on limbo-matter.

The starchildren serve the elder evils, great parasites on that hide in the darkness beyond. They are emissaries, commanders and diplomats. Most astral species fear them as the strangest and most dangerous creatures in reality, even Mindflayers know to respect the starchildren.

The starchildren are normally very intelligent, spending much of their early "life" consuming the knowledge of astral species.

The starchildren are parasites, having stolen and mastered technology from species they have consumed. They understand mindflayer technology, having mastered the art of genetic manipulation, energy weapons and cybernetics. They have copied gith designs, both githzherai and githyanki, and have created mighty warships.
They have taken all of these, and improved upon them.

Major Language Groups and Dialects

Starchildren can most speak any language, simply consuming the knowledge they need to learn new languages. When amongst themselves they communicate through psionic signals in sub-space.
