Mathàir Cos
Mathàir Cos, the Spidermother, is an ancient Fey Lady whose children are spread across the world, and whose web encapsulates all. The Lady of Secrets and Mother of Lies, the Spidermother's name is invoked by the wood elves when they wish for subterfuge and for schemes to go according to plan. As one of the oldest players of the Great Game, the Spidermother does not have the greatest army or the strongest monsters, but she is gifted with a unique insight into what drives mortals and how to encapsulate all in her web.
None understand her true goals, but all know that she has grown slowly more and more powerful in the milennia since the First War, and her influence now eclipses even Fíaglasir and Altsehash, though she hides this power in the shadows.

Personal history
Born from Nightmares
The Spidermother was born during the very early dark of the First War. Crann Domhanda saw that the early humans of the world were afraid of diminutive eight-legged creatures, and that their fear stole sleep from them, drove them to paranoid searching underneath leaves and caused outbursts of violence against the small creatures who only wanted to hunt flies and other insects. Their violence took the form of purging fire of Crann Domhanda's beloved trees, of axes to cut and clubs to smash, and Crann Domhanda promised that they would give humans something to really fear.
The Spidermother was born from the paranoid nightmares of humans, and she in turn gave birth to nightmares. First massive eight-legged furry monsters that crawl and snap, who cut of limbs and steal children in the night. Then more subtle monsters, colorful and small spiders whose bite can poison the strongest of men. In this time, the Spidermother was a feral creature of hate and fear, who supped upon the fear of humans like a fine wine, but who hated them for their treatment of her children. Even today, the Spidermother hate humans more than any other race, as elves and gnomes respect spiders and dwarves live away from her childrens' dens.
Dreamwar and surrender to the Everking
With the sleep of Crann Domhanda, and their control of their spawn loosening, the Spidermother was allowed to reimagine herself, much like her most-loved sibling Altsehash. Where before she had been a creature of simple fear and violent potential, she molded herself into something more subtle, something more refined. She would follow the example of those humble spiders she had first been made to emulate. Their elegant webs, spun between the branches of trees and corners of dimly-lit rooms, would be her inspiration. Webs which trapped prey, and which gave their arachnid masters total control of what was happening around them. The Spidermother would spin her web in all the corners of the world, able to catch her prey throughout reality, and knowing the movement of all.
Unlike her brother Altsehash, whose philosophy was always to pursue his goals, the Spidermother would rather manipulate her foes, forcing them into her constricting web until they had no choice but to follow her demands. Gone was the age of Spider-Giants, Mega-Arachnids, Arachnodrakes and Deathspiders, this would be the age of spies, assassins and blackmail, though the Spidermother would still have use for her old children on occasion.
The Spidermother spread her web throughout the world, especially among the courts and halls of the Wood Elves. Cults followed her word, wood elf politicians and warlords gave tribute to her to be blessed with her knowledge and power. Her influence grew unchecked, but this would change during the Dreamwar. Many wood elves suspected that she had played a role in the attempted usurption of Crann Domhanda's power, and the Eternal King made it a goal to quickly subdue her influence.
He walked into her domain, and the creating light of Crann Domhanda brought the Spidermother to her knees, peeling her back into her simple creation as a tiny insect. The Spidermother bound herself to the eternal throne, in order to not be vanquished by the eternal song of the Worldtre. She has since served as part of the pantheon of Fey Lords worshiped by the Wood Elves, and serves as something of a spymaster to the Eternal Throne, in return for being allowed to pursue some of her own interests.
