Episode 19 - Welcome to Camp Clegg

Welcome to Camp Clegg

General Summary

  • The Guardians of Golarion set up their tent in the encampment of Clegg Zincher. They spoke with some of the guards on duty and learned that Clegg came to the island looking for skymetal, but since they ran into the cat creatures he became interested in capturing some of them to use in his arena back in Riddleport. Clegg also has no interest in leaving until he reaches his goal, and has flogged some of his men who have voiced their concerns about staying. For Clegg's people, leaving is not an option until the cages are filled.

  • Hugo appeared from the discblade dimension, a bit rattled. He had aged about thirteen years and looked like a vagrant. But his mind was still sharp and he concluded that the cat creatures were not from the natural order.

  • The Guardians of Golarion made the decision that they would return to the large crater to look for the entrance to the Vault of Jel'va. The Ashen Order were heading in the same direction, in hopes of finding their two fallen companions and giving them a proper burial.

  • Clegg and his pet cleric, Rexxar the Orc Cleric of Sarenrae, took two men and were heading west to find more skymetal.

  • The two parties traveled to the crater together. Kiana Moonshadow noted that Clegg had been a little off since he moved the camp from Witchlight to where they are now. Baros Alexston and Hugo bonded over gadgets and science. Aenir tried chatting up Ella.

  • The parties separated at the crater. The Guardians began looking around Ground Zero. Godric pulled out the discblade and felt a tingle through his gauntlet coming from it. It seemed to be faint but stronger straight down, so the party started digging. They dug all day, with Hugo helping by tossing the occasional bomb. By the end of the day, they decided they would come back with better types of digging tools.

  • By the end of the day, the Ashen Order returned to the crater. There was no sign of their companions. Burma Swiftstone whispered a silent prayer and said they walked with Iomedae now. Together they returned to the camp.

  • That night, Godric and Sakali (with his new celestial pet Gus) noticed Clegg sneaking out of camp. He walked down a hidden path in the nearby cliff. They woke the rest of the party and everyone went down to follow him. They found him coming back up the path. He said he came down to do some fishing. Valarius didn't think he came down for fishing, but he did seem a bit relieved to see them.  Clegg went back up to the camp.

  • The Guardians followed the path down to a landing very close to the water. Ella found a secret doorway in the side of the cliff. She pulled it open with Godric assisting, and Reh watched on with interest. Sakali flew nearby on Gus's back. Hugo kept an eye out at the edge of the landing in case something came out of the water. Valarius remained near the path, making sure no one else was on their way down from the camp.

  • Ella muscled the door open, saw a flash of arcane runes across the opening, then...

Character(s) interacted with

  • Clegg Zincher -His temper had become shorter the longer he stays on the Devil's Elbow but seems to have no intention of leaving until his goals are met. Anyone who speaks against him was killed at first, but then when his manpower started dwindling he resorted to personally flogging them in front of everyone to send a message.

  • Rexxar the Orc Cleric of Sarenrae - Seems to be a bit psychotic, violent, but wears a holy symbol of Sarenrae. Not sure what his story is yet.

Notes

General Knowledge

  • The shadowcats may have either come from another plane, or more likely were on the meteor that was called down to destroy the protective seal that protected the Vault of Jel'va.
  • The Vault of Jel'va is somehow connected to pain or punishment in some fashion.
