Zuggtmoy's Kiss Condition in Godsen | World Anvil

Zuggtmoy's Kiss

A disease gained from eating mushrooms cursed by Zuggtmoy or one of her cultists

Transmission & Vectors

Consumption of cursed Mushrooms, being scratched or bitten by someone with disease.

Symptoms

The disease starts by growing mushrooms in the victim's stomach, leading to stomach pains. Soon, more mushrooms will begin growing all over the creature's body, as well as mold and other funguses. After about 3 weeks of agonizing pain, the creature will begin to hallucinate. After another 2 weeks, the victim will lose it's mind completely, and become under the control of Zuggtmoy.

Treatment

Eating a soup made from chicken blood and any edible mushroom will help suppress the effects of the disease. In order to cure it, one must drink holy water blessed by a cleric for 2 weeks straight. They mustn't eat or drink anything else, although the chicken blood mushroom soup is ok to consume. During this 2 weeks, the victim will feel immeasurable pain, as the holy water will work like acid, melting the source of the mushrooms. Otherwise, the only way to cure this disease is via the wish spell.

Prognosis

Will lead to enthrallment by Zuggtmoy, and eventually death.

Sequela

After about 2 years of enthrallment, the body will begin slowing down and rotting away, until eventually the body will stop functioning and lay dead, growing mushrooms out of its body. All mushrooms growing out of this body contain the disease.
