Mergen's powers begin to reach a point where he begins to unlock and unravel the fabric of creation, including time and motion. He tests this on making predictions of the future, small and short-term at first, but often ends up correct. In response to an "extended" prediction he sees, he establishes the beginning of what will become the Eclipse Syndicate.
