Of all the Harbingers who carved scars across the histories of Alathor, none met an end so strange, so unworthy of their terrible power, as Vok-Rahith, the Thrice-Damned.   A being forged from broken cosmic laws, once feared as the Sundering Voice, he became a prisoner... then a bargaining chip... and finally, a feast for a laughing, dancing demigoddess who outwitted him at his moment of triumph.

Origins and the Sundering Oath

Vok-Rahith was born into a universe knitted together by ancient laws—chains that bound matter, mind, and meaning alike. Once a guardian of this cosmic architecture, Vok’s despair and fury at the failures of his creators led him to do the unthinkable: he shattered the bonds of his own making, becoming an entity of unmaking, betrayal, and sundering.   When he came to Alathor, he sought to replicate his great undoing, targeting the sacred balance established by the Mother and Father. But he was captured—bound within the roots of an ancient Great Red Tree.   There he lay imprisoned, seething, whispering his promises into the dark.

The Bargain and the Betrayal

Ages passed until Eris—the cunning and unpredictable Sister of Bulan—found him.   Curious and amused, she toyed with Vok for years, teasing at his prison but never freeing him. Only when seeking a means to empower the exiled nobles who would become Kyokuri did Eris seriously consider his offers. She negotiated with Vok through astral communion, demanding the power he promised without granting him freedom.   When Vok realized she would not truly release him, he tried to trick her into shattering his prison. But Eris, clever beyond his imagining, turned the tables: she tore what remained of his mind from the core of the Great Red Tree and devoured it whole.   In a convulsive battle of wills that lasted seven days and nights, Eris and Vok clashed within her soul. In the end, Eris consumed Vok’s essence entirely.   She emerged victorious, laughing madly, her psyche forever altered. Thus was the Thrice-Damned undone—not by battle, but by a sly smile and a greater hunger than his own.

The Legacy of Vok-Rahith

Though Vok-Rahith was devoured, the remnants of his power did not vanish:   The Kyokuri Nobles: Eris, infused with Vok’s warped energy, gifted the founding noble families of Kyokuri with superhuman strength, speed, intelligence, and durability. These traits became hereditary, forming a permanent warrior caste.   The Great Red Tree: Freed of Vok’s prison, the ancient tree exploded into unprecedented growth, becoming the sacred heart of Kyokuri—known even now as Eris’s Gift.   The Clown Queen: Eris’s own mind remained partially fractured, earning her the mocking, affectionate title of "The Clown Queen," a protector in rags and madness.   Yet, echoes of Vok’s mind still ripple through the Dreaming. Whispers of broken oaths, seeds of mutating power, and the slow, inexorable hunger to undo remain. Some fear that pieces of Vok-Rahith drift still, seeking to reconstitute themselves—not as a whole Harbinger, but as cancers of reality itself.

Current Status

Vok-Rahith is dead, his mind and essence consumed by Eris. But his influence survives—woven into the blood of a nation.   He was thrice-damned: first by his creators, then by his own rebellion, and finally, by the grinning jaws of a demigod who found him wanting.
