Concordant Federation
Birthplace of the Ascendant Gods and the larger of Weirwalden's two empires, the Concordant Federation supports the majority of Weirwalden's population and industry. It was created under the Pact of the Sevensworn, a treaty of unification between the seven peoples from which the nine Ascendant Gods were born. It is split between a number of independent provinces, which are in turn overseen by the Concordant Chancellor.
Territories
The Concordant Federation is split into eight provinces. The relationships between these provinces are generally amicable, but territory expansion and economical shifts can threaten this peace, sometimes provoking border skirmishes or heated political struggle.
The provinces within the Federation are, in no particular order, the Ruby Mire, the Guldahral, the Hinterlands, the Dul'yera Steppes, the Icefield, the Reef, the Sarabak Savanna, and the Wildenmoor.
Military
Each province within the Federation supports its own branch of military, while the main national army is supported by troops trained and recruited in the Guldahral. The army stationed in the capital city, Kharnduahr, is responsible for the defense of the Federation from the Valzard Dominion. Disputes between individual provinces are generally settled between themselves, with the capital only becoming involved if the conflict escalates to involve other provinces that wish to remain neutral.
Religion
The Concordant Federation largely adheres to the pantheon of the Ascendant Gods. Federation natives who do not belong to the Severnsworn peoples - centaurs and firbolgs, primarily - oftentimes do not ascribe to the worship of the gods, preferring instead to persist in their own beliefs. Additionally, not all members of the Sevensworn peoples are active worshipers of the gods, and some even renounce individual gods, or the pantheon in its entirety.
Foreign Relations
The Concordant Federation is in a state of long-standing subdued hostility with their neighbor nation, the Valzard Dominion. Natural land barriers restrict skirmishes, and the relations between the two powers has amounted to a tense stalemate for some time. The Federation does accept immigrants and political dissidents from the Dominion, though they are held under close watch and careful scrutiny for many years after their entry. As such, many Dominion natives immigrate illegally.
