Miniature Reflex Sight

Miniature Reflex Sight

Model Description

The GoatGuns Miniature Reflex Sight can be compared to so many different models by countless manufacturers that it would be impossible to guess what one they used as the basis for this model. That said this model of reflex sight is an open model. It is a painted die cast metal with a clear lens and it comes with a flathead screwdriver to install.

History of the Reflex Sight

The first reflective sight was introduced to the public in the year 1900 by Howard Grubb, a man who made telescopes for a living. He had the idea to use the sun to illuminate the reticle by reflecting it at the inside of a partially reflective lens, while looking through that lens at your target. In 1945 the Nydar Shotgun Sight took on a more modern open reflex sight design using a prism to reflect the reticle onto the lens, this limited its usefulness to very well-lit areas. The Germans created the first electric model in 1847 called the Giese Electric Gunsight, since then improvements in battery and lighting technology have pushed the field to where it is today.

Reflex sights are known for their ease of use when aiming when compared to iron sights, where you would need to line up the target, forward and rear site. Some say the term reflex came from how quickly one could acquire their target while using these reflective sights. Unlike magnifying scopes, a reflex sight will work any distance from the eyes allowing variable placement on the firearm.
