Gnolls

To an outsider it might seem strange that the gnolls, with their hyena heads and nocturnal lives, are considered Kin. However since the dawn of civilization on Hyarmenor gnolls have been present in human and orc communities serving in roles where their nightvision or superior hearing are valued. As such they are most common in areas where constant vigilance or round the clock work is necessary. Most ocean going ships will work to have at least a skeleton crew of gnollish sailors for the night for example.
In psychology gnolls greatly resemble humans though they are more prone to enjoying the outdoors and generally prefer a more rugged lifestyle, this could be the result of their professions rather than anything innate.
The exact cause of the gnoll's present appearance is unknown, myths vary from a curse by the gods to a magical boon earned by the gnolls' progenitor. It is know to be a singular trait, as children born to gnollish unions with other kin are either born with a full hyena head or the face of their other parent.
