Yet danger is woven into the fabric of reality – many a life has been lost in pursuit of the horizon and its gilded rewards. Will you triumph or be found wanting on the scales of fate? Eons ago, an undefined reality-altering event known as the Cataclysm forever changed the landscape. Some scholars believe it was the sudden influx of magic into the realm, which instilled sentience into beasts and gave rise to humanity and the demi-human peoples (along with talking animals). Though time passes at the same rate throughout the world, the “overall” rate of change that comes with age seems to differ between regions; some cities are thoroughly Bronze Age while others are almost Victorian.
