Burning man

Every year Redania organises a festival called Burning Man. This festival always takes place in the desert, east of Redania. For 5 days people can come and write down their sins on a big wooden statue. After these 5 days the statue is set on fire burning all the sins the people have written down. This resembles the cleansing of the soul and the burning of all sins by the sacred flame.    This festival started as a fun activity to please the people and to celebrate the birthday of King Radovid I. King Radovid I was a great believer in the church of the sacred flame, so he decided that burning a big wooden statue that looked like himself would be a way to show his loyalty to the sacred flame.   The last few years King Radovid VI uses this festival and the church of the sacred flame to cause more hatred for magic, magic-users and non-humans. The festival has changed it's meaning, for now the burning of the statue resembles the burning of the souls of all sinners. Radovid uses this and says that the sinners are all magic users, for magic corrupts the soul. Some fear the worst and think that it wont be long before not only magic-users but also non-humans will be labelled as corrupt and sinners.    What once was a festival of love and celebration is now a hate bearing festival used to turn the people of Redania against magic and all those who worship it.
