Military Uniforms of the Abteilung Wellenabwehr
White Alert Uniforms ‘WA’
Nicknamed Weiße by the sailors. The White Alert Uniforms (Weiße Alarmuniformen, or ‘WA’), are the uniforms wore by sailors during times of rest, during ceremonies, and when there is safety. Sailors do not wear the HDU like the rest of the military. The normal Sailors wear a short sleeved button up shirt, with silver buttons. Their pants are a dark navy blue, and their boots are rubber. The long part of the boot is hidden by the sailors trousers as they put them over the boots. Their cover, worn only when at sea, is a white flight cap, known as a Matrosenmütze to the sailors. It has a small tassel that hangs off the back, and a pin with their ships name, class, and serial number. The cap, when not being worn, gets tucked into the white belt that loops through their trousers.
The officers wear a long sleeve pure white over coat, with a short sleeve t-shirt under it. The trousers and boots are the same, but the officers wear a white service cap, with black accents. Depending on the rank of the officer, their pin designating their ship is either bronze, silver, or gold. With the Captain of the ship receiving a pin with olive branches around the outside. (No matter the rank. A Seekadett, who, in battle, has taken command of the ship, would receive a bronze captains pin.). The pins themselves, called a Schiffswind, follows the officer on each uniform.
Blue Alert Uniforms. ‘BA’
The Blaue Alarmuniformen is worn during wartime. While not the most protective of the uniforms (that goes to the KA) the BA protects the sailor enough to don the KA. The BA adds an overcoat to the common sailors uniform. The overcoat is a dark blue matching the trousers, and is zipped up as to be harder to have removed. The overcoat also has a balaclava that can be put over the sailors head to protect them from flash fires, and some shrapnel. The overcoat itself is a flak vest. During Blue Alert the Matrosenmütze is discarded. The sailor as has gloves made out of the same material of the balaclava.
The officers trade their white overcoat for a flak vest, with all the same things that the sailors had. Except the officers add their swords and keep their service caps over their balaclavas.
Combat Alert Uniforms ‘KA’
Kampfalarmuniform, the final grouping of uniforms for sailors. It is the same across all rankings. All headgear is shed, swords are strapped onto belts. Helmets and goggles are given out. Along with canisters with O2 and masks, so in case of a sinking the sailors will have more of a chance to survive. The helmet itself covers everything, except for the frontal part where the sailors don their masks and goggles. Pistol belts with PS-10s are also worn. The officers now have their pins on their helmets. The Kampfalarmuniform is worn in the midst of battle. And will be worn after a battle until returning to safety.
