Broadsword
The broadsword is a basket hilted, one bladed, slashing, light finesse weapon, used mostly for personal protection from bandits or ne'erdowells, and often compared to a cutlass or short sword.
One of the benefits of this weapon is the total hand protection it provides via its basket hilt, a metal cage that fully surrounds hand.
